Cable Materials RFQ Checklist: What to Include for an Accurate Quote
Cable materials — conductor, insulation, shielding and sheathing — are an additional supply category for Zhongbo: they are sourced from confirmed manufacturers, not produced in-house. A complete request for quotation (RFQ) lets us identify the right source, confirm the grade and standard, and quote with the documentation your project requires.
Who this checklist is for
Cable manufacturers, EPC and project procurement teams, and distributors sourcing conductor, insulation, shielding or sheathing materials through Zhongbo's supply service.
How supplied cable materials are quoted
For every supplied cable material, Zhongbo confirms the manufacturer identity, material grade, applicable standard and country of origin before accepting the order, and provides the mill or test documentation you specify. Zhongbo is the supply and documentation contact for these materials, not their manufacturer — so the more precisely you state the grade, standard and certification you need, the faster and firmer the quote.
The RFQ checklist
| Include | What to send |
|---|---|
| Application & cable type | What the material is for — power, telecom, instrumentation or specialty cable — and which layer: conductor, insulation, shielding or sheathing. |
| Material & grade | The specific material and grade (e.g. bare/tinned copper conductor, aluminium conductor, XLPE or PVC insulation compound, aluminium/copper shielding tape, HDPE/PVC sheathing). |
| Voltage class / standard | The cable voltage class and the standard the material must meet — IEC, BS, ASTM, GB/T, or your own specification. |
| Quantity & delivery schedule | Order quantity and the required delivery dates or call-off schedule. |
| Certificates & inspection | Which certificates you need (mill/test report, certificate of compliance, RoHS/REACH) and any third-party or witnessed inspection. |
| Origin / approved mills | Any required or preferred country of origin, or an approved-manufacturer list the project mandates. (Optional but speeds sourcing.) |
| Destination port | For freight and lead-time calculation. |
Common mistakes to avoid
- Specifying a material without the voltage class or standard it must meet — the same compound can be graded differently under different standards.
- Not stating certificate and inspection requirements up front — they affect which source is selected and the lead time.
- Omitting quantity and destination port, which set freight and lead time.
RFQ FAQ
Does Zhongbo manufacture these cable materials?
No. Cable materials are an additional supply category — they are sourced from confirmed manufacturers. Zhongbo confirms the manufacturer, grade, standard and origin before order acceptance and provides the documentation you require, acting as the supply and documentation contact rather than the manufacturer.
Can you meet a specific standard or approved-mill list?
Yes. Send the standard and any approved-manufacturer list the project requires; the applicable grade, standard, origin and documentation are confirmed against your specification before the order is accepted.
