Galvanized Binding and General-Purpose Steel Wire (0.8–4.0 mm)

  • Overall diameter range: 0.8–4.0 mm (soft tying emphasis 0.8–1.6 mm)
  • Soft, easily tied grades and harder general-fabrication grades presented separately
  • Electro-galvanized or hot-dip galvanized finish, with a measured coating mass
  • Custom coil, spool, cut-length and bundle formats
  • One page for both galvanized binding wire and "hot-dip galvanized iron wire"

Made to order to your diameter, coating, tensile grade and standard — request a quote for price, minimum order quantity and lead time.

This one page covers what were two overlapping catalogue items — galvanized binding wire and “hot-dip galvanized iron wire” — as a single product family. “Galvanized iron wire” is a common trade phrase, but the accurate material name is galvanized low-carbon steel wire. We keep soft, easily tied wire clearly separate from harder wire used for general fabrication or conversion, and we keep electro-galvanized data separate from hot-dip data rather than mixing the two. Named grades, coating process and coating mass are confirmed with the quotation, and this wire is not marketed as structural load-bearing wire without a specific engineered standard.

Tensile Strength

We work to named grades rather than one broad range (see the grade table above): soft binding wire runs about 350–550 MPa hot-dip or 350–450 MPa electro-galvanized for hand tying and greater ductility, while hard-drawn general wire runs about 750–950 MPa for stiffness and fabrication. Where a soft grade supports high elongation we publish the exact gauge length and test method, so the mechanical values stay comparable between orders.

Features

  • Soft and hard-drawn grades presented separately
  • Electro- or hot-dip galvanized finishes with measured coating mass
  • Custom coil, spool, cut-length and bundle formats
  • Controlled diameter and winding for manual or automated use
  • Low-carbon steel suited to common tying and fabrication operations
  • Batch inspection and custom specification review

Packaging & Shipping

We list actual unit weights and dimensions, and offer small coils, industrial coils, spools, straightened/cut lengths or customer-specific bundles only where we can supply them. Inner plastic film, woven/hessian wrap and palletization are described factually rather than assumed.

  • Small or industrial coils to the confirmed unit weight
  • Spools and reels for automatic feeding
  • Straightened cut lengths or bundled wire after capability confirmation
  • Palletized export packs with moisture protection

Use cases

  • Construction-material tying and rebar accessories where local practice allows
  • General packaging and bundling
  • Bucket, pail or container handles after forming trials
  • Cut-wire, craft and light fabrication products
  • Feedstock for selected mesh or wire products when grade/coating are suitable

Who it is for

Construction-wire distributors, packaging companies, wire converters, handle makers, hardware wholesalers and general industrial buyers.

Standards, certificates & inspection

Made to your temper and coating class — for example ASTM A641/A641M for soft, medium and hard-temper zinc-coated carbon steel wire — with general dimensional and test-method standards supporting inspection. It is not marketed as structural load-bearing wire without a specific engineered standard. Every batch is produced under an ISO 9001 quality management system and can ship with a mill test certificate covering diameter, tensile strength and zinc-coating weight. Third-party or pre-shipment inspection (SGS, BV or customer-appointed) is available on request.

See test reports & inspection and quality control & testing for the full documentation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between soft binding wire and hard-drawn wire?

Soft wire is annealed for easy tying and greater ductility; hard-drawn wire has higher strength and stiffness for fabrication. Choose a named grade.

Should I choose electro- or hot-dip galvanized?

Electro-galvanized wire generally has a lighter coating and smoother appearance; hot-dip provides a heavier coating. Specify the required coating mass and application.

Can you supply cut wire?

Yes, once we confirm length range, tolerance, straightness, bundle weight and end condition.

Is galvanized iron wire different from galvanized steel wire?

In trade usage the terms overlap, but the product is low-carbon steel wire; we use the accurate material name in specifications.
