Tensile Strength
Tensile strength is published for the finished flat wire, because rolling can change the mechanical properties of the starting round wire. A broad range is divided into practical grades, and where you form staples or clips we add bend/forming performance or an approved machine trial so the grade is proven on the finished section.
Features
- Section defined by width × thickness and an approved drawing
- Controlled edge condition, camber and twist
- Mechanical grade selected for forming or stiffness
- Galvanized or other verified surface options
- Precision winding and orientation for machine feed
- Custom sections and trial coils subject to rolling capability
Packaging & Shipping
Flat-wire orientation is kept controlled on the reel. We state spool/reel dimensions, winding orientation, traverse, net weight, coil ID/OD, protective interleaving where needed and whether straight lengths are available.
- Precision spools with flat orientation controlled
- Large reels for continuous conversion
- Compact coils
- Straightened/cut lengths after capability confirmation
Use cases
- Packing and bundling components
- Flat stitching or stapling wire
- Clips, formed fasteners and hardware
- Industrial reinforcement or insert products
Who it is for
Staple and clip manufacturers, packaging converters, fastener producers, wire-forming companies and buyers needing custom rectangular sections.
Standards, certificates & inspection
Your drawing controls the section, tolerances, edge condition, mechanical properties and surface; general EN 10218 test methods apply, but special-section requirements must be defined. A flat section is specified by width × thickness, never as a diameter. Every batch is produced under an ISO 9001 quality management system and can ship with a mill test certificate covering diameter, tensile strength and zinc-coating weight. Third-party or pre-shipment inspection (SGS, BV or customer-appointed) is available on request.
See test reports & inspection and quality control & testing for the full documentation.
Frequently asked questions
How should flat wire be specified?
By width × thickness, independent tolerances, edge/corner condition, tensile range, surface, camber, twist and spool.
Can you make a custom section?
Yes, subject to rolling dies, minimum order, material and trial approval — send a drawing and annual demand.
Is tensile strength measured before or after flattening?
The published acceptance value applies to the finished flat wire, because rolling changes the properties of the starting round wire.
Can it be supplied galvanized?
We confirm whether coating is applied before or after rolling, the coating mass and permitted edge exposure once the process is set.
