Tensile Strength
For formed seat components a higher tensile number is not automatically better: the selected tensile range must allow your bending, welding and forming operations while meeting the finished part’s stiffness and load requirements. Confirmed grades run about 600–650 MPa minimum tensile across the 2.0–6.0 mm range, with a minimum of 5–6 reverse bends by diameter (see the table above), held against the wire rod, reduction schedule and heat-treatment route for each order.
Features
- Controlled diameter and ovality for repeatable forming-tool setup
- Mechanical properties selected for bending, forming and welding operations
- Uniform zinc coating with adhesion checked after deformation
- Stable cast and helix for controlled pay-off into wire-forming equipment
- Coil identification and heat/batch traceability available with the order
- Samples and first-article lots available for customer process validation
Packaging & Shipping
Packing is described by your pay-off method rather than one generic coil claim. We confirm coil inside/outside diameter, unit weight, winding pattern, lifting points, rust protection and label data, and whether returnable reels are required.
- Catch-weight or compact coils with internal/external wrapping
- Z2/Z3 or other spool formats after dimensional confirmation
- Palletized export packing with heat/batch labels
- Customer-owned or returnable reels where agreed
Use cases
- Wire-formed seat-frame members and support elements
- Seat suspension or reinforcement parts after buyer qualification
- Selected lock linkages, rods or formed-wire parts made to drawing
- Automotive wire-forming trials and sample-approval programmes
Who it is for
Automotive seat-system suppliers, wire-forming companies, welded-frame manufacturers and component makers that buy steel wire to a controlled drawing rather than a commodity diameter.
Standards, certificates & inspection
The controlling acceptance basis is your part drawing, control plan and approved sample; general wire test methods (EN 10218-1) and dimensional conventions (EN 10218-2) are referenced where contractually applicable. Automotive quality approvals (for example IATF 16949 or PPAP) are named only where a current certificate exists. Every batch is produced under an ISO 9001 quality management system and can ship with a mill test certificate covering diameter, tensile strength and zinc-coating weight. Third-party or pre-shipment inspection (SGS, BV or customer-appointed) is available on request.
See test reports & inspection and quality control & testing for the full documentation.
Frequently asked questions
Can you supply a custom diameter and tensile grade?
Yes, subject to technical review. Send the nominal diameter, tolerance, target tensile range, coating requirement, part drawing, coil format and annual demand.
Is this wire ready to run on an automotive line?
It is supplied as feedstock. You validate forming, welding, coating adhesion and finished-component performance through your own approval process.
Can one specification cover seat frames and door-lock parts?
Only when the material, diameter, mechanical properties and validation requirements are genuinely the same. Otherwise we quote them as separate controlled specifications.
What documents can accompany a shipment?
By agreement: a mill test certificate, dimensional results, tensile/bend results, coating-mass result, material traceability and third-party inspection.
